STEP 1
Strategy First consultation
We start this programme with a one-to-one consultation with Barbara to determine how this training fits with your long term vision for your child's multilingual development.
Can I speak two languages with my baby? Which language should I introduce first, English or a second local or heritage language?
You can discuss these or any other concerns you might have about using multiple languages at home in the early years. Barbara has a wealth of experience to share with you.
The clarity that results from this expert consultation in itself is probably worth the full price of this programme.
Also, if you still need to find the right nanny, you can learn how to find great candidates (no, it's not all about native speakers!)
If you already have an English speaking nanny you can use our guidance to help her on board with you and start Switch&Play in no time!
STEP 2
Switch&Play Certification Training
This is the juicy bit. We train your nanny in the healthiest approach to language acquisition in the early years using our Switch&Play method.
While our approach is modern and based on years of research and professional practice, our training is objective and easy to follow.
It presents the essential principles with video demonstrations of how to talk, play and stimulate a child's language acquisition without teaching.
It is designed to be completed in 4 to 6 weeks dedicating about 15 to 25 minutes daily -- perfect for a bus ride. Once you are enrolled, your caregiver of choice will have access for one year. Parents have access to all contents too!
STEP 3
+English Year Challenge
Our training covers all essencial principles and strategies to boost your child's language aquisition. But we don't stop there!
Both you and your nanny will get support for a whole year! Once you complete your training, you join our +English Year Challenge.
That's because we don't believe in magical solutions, we know it takes about 12 months of intentional interaction to establish the language at home. And we are going to be there for you every step of the way!

Having one or two hours of language instruction per week is not appropriate for young children. It’s too much and too little at the same time. They can't concentrate for a whole intensive hour because instruction is not how their minds are hardwired to learn. Free play is. With a nanny as a language champion, they can have several short, spaced, and varied interactions in the target language in a playful context.

Switch&Play is a language stimulation method based on one-to-one quality interactions during play and routine activities. Our method is screen-free for your child. It does not require that you buy special branded materials. In fact, the only materials we need are good quality picture books and toys you already have or can easily get online. That's because the most important element of Switch&Play is human.
The Switch&Play method taps into human power of playful interaction, creative communication and loving care. It transforms a "child minder" into a "language champion". It is a complete game changer.
Everyone has an accent and that's ok! Your child will not grow up with anyone’s accent but their own. It is part of their cultural identity, or multicultural identity. Yes, it is important to count on a caring, communicative person who speaks the target language fluently. But that doesn’t mean without mistakes, it just means without much effort. Everywhere we hear about this young child who can speak 4 or 5 languages with no problem because of youtube, or international holidays, or a complex family system. We do not believe hearsay. I have seen children who can sing a couple of songs and count in many languages, but acquiring a language is different. Acquiring a language is about both understanding and expressing ourselves to connect significantly with other people.
This is what we know about what it takes :
* The best time to do this is before 6 years old.
* We can realistically establish up to 3 different languages in early childhood, more languages are not impossible, but difficult to implement.
* It requires sustained and stimulating interaction with a fluent, grown up speaker.

Remember, we are not going to directly teach a language to your nanny or child. The nanny must already speak English fluently and we will train her to stimulate your child's language acquisition with our surefire method.
For this training starting September 2024, we will provide the Switch&Play training in English. Barbara will use stories and songs and video demonstrations of how to Switch&Play in this language. The method can be applied to any language acquisition.
Strategy calls and private consultations can be held in English, Spanish or Portuguese.
We advise you to start as soon as possible but once you enrol, you can make an appointment for your strategy call and gain access to the training for 1 year. This way you can take each step at your own pace.
